Acupuncture

Acupuncture is very effective in the treatment of a variety of acute and chronic neuromuscular and joint disorders. Its effectiveness is obtained by inserting a very thin needle into the skin and underlying soft tissue at specific points. This causes a local repair response along with a general physiological response by the release of endorphins (natural pain killers) (endorphins) and cortisol (natural anti-inflammatories) (cortisol).

The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified the benefits of acupuncture in the treatment of a wide range of health problems including:

  • Neurological and muscular disorders
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Neck, Back and sciatic pain
  • Frozen shoulder, tennis & golfers elbow, carpal tunnel, tendinitis & bursitis.

Acupuncture assists in providing the body with an optimal environment for tissues to heal quickly and naturally by stimulating the repair process at the site along with providing long lasting effects of pain reduction and reduced inflammation.

By incorporating acupuncture as a pain management method and as an approach to restore proper functional movement while maximizing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The effects of Acupuncture can be further enhanced by adding an electrical stimulation to the acupuncture needles similar to T.E.N.S. and I.F.C. units.

Electroacupuncture

Utilizing acupuncture needles and a small electrical current to augment the effects of acupuncture.

Needlework (Dry-needling)

Involves the twirling and moving the inserted acupuncture needles to further stimulate a greater immune system response to the acupuncture needle. By creating a micro-trauma/tear to further increase the stimulation of white blood cells and the release of endorphins and cortisol.
